1st Compton Scout Group

This year's Regatta will be on Sunday the 2nd of July at Wokingham Waterside Centre

As in the past, this will be a fun event open to teams of Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and SN members.  Moreover, it will enable Cubs & Scouts to obtain one of the new activity badges without doing anything else.

No previous experience or equipment is required as the Waterside Centre will provide the boats, paddles, buoyancy aids etc. as well as qualified helms who will tell your team what to do.  The maximum in a team is 11 (10 paddlers and 1 drummer) but don't worry if you are one or two short as in practice that rarely makes any difference.

We also accept mixed teams (i.e. from more than 1 section in a Group or from 2 or more Groups or Units) but remember that the competition you are entered in will be determined by the age of your oldest paddler.

This year we will be providing some land based activities for participants waiting for their races.  In addition there is plenty of room for you to organise your own games and all Cub, Scout & Explorer teams must be accompanied by a responsible adult who will be responsible for them between races.   As in previous years there will be hot & cold food & drinks for sale at reasonable prices throughout the day.

The cub competition will be held in the morning and and the others in the afternoon.

The entry fee is £ 75 per team and will give your team at least 2 races..

Gloucestershire Explorers 13+ Scouts & Adults - Kayak/Canoe/SUPing Weekend Opportunity for DofE Touring Water Expeditions, as well as British Canoeing Awards, and Scout Paddlesport Badges Gain your own Scout/Explorer/Leader Leadership Water Permits The weekend will cost £45  The fee includes camping, daily launching, meals from Saturday breakfast Bacon Baps, Fish & Chip Supper choices to Sunday lunch. Saturday evening kayak/canoe film shows/fun shows including supply of popcorn. NAN will be covered by Water Team, so leaders attending is not vital. Please book ASAP as places are limited.

Mountain Activity Weekend: Friday/Sunday 22nd /24th September. Brecon Beacons. Travel by minibus to South Wales for a weekend in the Brecon Beacons. Transport, indoor accommodation & food provided. This weekend will offer the opportunity to learn about planning and preparation for mountain walking, with a full day hill walking with walks suitable for all ages and abilities. This weekend could also count towards the Explorer Scout Mountain Activities Badge or the Scout Adventure Challenge.
